Pebbly Beach
Kangaroos cool off, Pebbly Beach
Pebbly Beach is approximately 48 Km south of Mollymook. It takes about 45 minutes to get there. Pebbly Beach is an unspoilt, prisitne beach in the Murramarang National Park. The Pebbly Beach turn-off is about 10 km south of Termeil. Turn left off the Princes Highway into Mt Agony Rd (signposted to Depot Beach/Durras Lake North). It is roughly eight km over a gravel road to Pebbly Beach camping grounds and cabins. It is a pleasant drive and an ideal outing for a picnic or BBQ. Don't be surprised if you have to jostle for a spot on the sand, or in the surf, with the local western grey kangaroos! The kangaroos are generally quite tame and happy to be photographed. They are more usually seen on the grassy banks adjacent to the beach. Please resist the urge to feed them. The vegetation around the beach is lush and very attractive with abundant bird life and there are some enjoyable walks into the National Park. Parking for the day is approximately $7, so take some change.
